The first musical artists featured in our series are AZE, an Austrian and Turkish/Kurdish female duo based in Vienna, who are constantly evolving their own identity while walking a tightrope between two distinct and often conservative cultures. Their new generation R&B sound, described by composer/producer Beyza Demirkalp as “anything sexy to sad”, is fused with singer Ezgi Atas’ introspective and powerful lyrics. The two share common roots since childhood and although not sisters, their unbreakable bond and the resulting journeys together have helped form the narrative backbone of AZE.

It’s a hypnotic performance and, although just 12 minutes in length, we are taken through different shades of AZE’s personality within three songs featured on their current EP, Dead Heat.
